Dr. Tanbour has over 23 years of professional and academic experience. He worked in mid-cap multi-billion dollar corporations in the USA for more than 13 years in leadership capacities. During his tenure in corporate America, Dr. Tanbour has served in key industry-academia projects and major initiatives that were focused on enhancing academic programs to serve industry. He also served on local, state and national US level in the areas of advanced technical training, economic development and served for several years as industry-university liaison. Among Dr. Tanbour’s major contributions to academia was his service as industry consultant to Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET). Dr. Tanbour chaired sessions of ABET Criteria 2000, which is a landmark criteria for quality assurance in Engineering and IT Colleges.
While in industry in the USA, Dr. Tanbour led several multi-million dollar research projects between industry and academia and contributed to realizing key research funds that produced well-established research institutes in Iowa and Tennessee. He has global business experience in China, Western Europe, South America, North America and the Middle East.
Dr. Tanbour champions several strategic initiatives at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University among them the strategic planning and execution of Saudi national (NCAAA) and international (ABET and SACS) accreditations. He continues to lead PMU drive towards achieving academic and institutional effectiveness and provided several training programs for PMU faculty and staff in the area of quality and continuous improvement. In addition, Dr. Tanbour is an innovator and designer with over 13 US pending and issued patents all of which resulted in manufactured products in North America.
Dr. Tanbour earned his doctorate in Engineering along with his EMBA training at the University of Iowa, USA. He published over 30 articles and journal and conference papers and was keynote speaker in conferences and professional assemblies in the USA. Dr. Tanbour was recognized for his contribution to his profession among which he received Arch T. Colwell Merit Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers.
